If you're a fan of that album, there are plenty of examples from that tour where they changed a bass note on 'in that quiet earth'...it's a subtle thing from a theory stand point, but incredibly powerful from a listener perspective. Search for the 1977 Zurich or Dallas show...if you have more than a cursory acquaintance with that piece, you will be pleasantly surprised.

This is interesting. I'd like to hear it. Is it at a particular part of the song, or does it repeat throughout?

Choices of bass notes were a very important factor of the Genesis "sound". smiley
